Threshold Ventures Welcomes Lisa Xu to our New York Team

At Threshold, we’ve always believed in the power of proximity to foster deep relationships and drive innovation. Our expansion to New York has been a testament to this belief, and we are thrilled to see the vibrant growth in the venture market here. With over 40% of our fund’s portfolio companies based on the East Coast, our commitment to this region is stronger than ever.
We are excited to continue that expansion and announce that Lisa Xu has joined Threshold’s New York team.
Lisa brings a wealth of experience and a stellar track record from her time as a Principal at FirstMark Capital, where she focused on Seed and Series A investments, particularly in New York. She helped lead and support investments in over a dozen companies, including Justworks, Loop Returns, EvolutionIQ, Alloy Automation, Archive Resale, and CognitOps. Lisa has been recognized across the industry for her achievements, most recently being named to the EVC list in 2022 and 2023 as a top rising star in venture capital.
Lisa has been in the NYC ecosystem for over a decade. Before her venture career, she worked at two NYC-based startups, gaining invaluable insights into the startup ecosystem. She was a product manager at Handy, an online marketplace for home services (acquired by ANGI Homeservices), and she also worked at Peloton, where she focused on retention, operations, and strategy.
Lisa joins Megan Kelly in our New York office. Megan has been with Threshold since 2021 and is instrumental in leading our efforts and building strong ties within the founder and investor community. Her dedication and expertise have significantly enhanced our presence, allowing us to support and invest in some of the most promising early-stage companies.
With Lisa on our team, we are poised to further accelerate our mission of backing visionary founders who are shaping the future. Her expertise and passion for innovation align perfectly with our values, and we are confident that Lisa will play a pivotal role alongside Megan in expanding our reach and impact in New York.
Strong, lasting relationships are a core driver of the venture ecosystem. While Lisa may be new to Threshold, she and Megan have been collaborating as investors for many years and have an incredible foundation of working together. We are thrilled they will finally be wearing the same jersey and representing Threshold in New York.
The New York venture market is a hotbed of activity, with companies like Flatiron Health, Peloton, Oscar, Datadog, and Compass paving the way for new innovations. Our goal is to deepen our position in this ecosystem, partnering with angels and seed funds to support the next wave of groundbreaking startups.
